Fluorite wrapped in copper
This stone has such a fun story. I found it on a very early rockhounding adventure. I thought it was really special but at the time I didn’t have a rock polisher, so it sat in my “cool rock pile.” After I brought my polisher home this was an early polishing project. It was even more beautiful after polishing but I had no idea what I’d found. I posted in some rockhounding online groups and got lots of conflicting answers. Then my son received a “spy kit” as a present. It happened to have a black light in the kit. One afternoon I was choosing new stones to wrap and I ran across this one and wished again I knew what I’d found. Then, a moment later I remembered my sons black light…one dark bathroom and black light flashlight later, I knew I’d found fluorite!
