This drawing is a little love note to some of my favorite New Mexico flora and fauna.

Two things instantly make me think of New Mexico after living here for the last five years; roadrunners and prickly pear cactus! I love birds in general but roadrunners are especially fabulous. Like most folks my age (elder millennial here) I grew up with references to the Looney Tunes characters Wiley Coyote and the roadrunner. I was completely elated the first time I saw one and I have more photos of roadrunners than are strictly necessary! Similarly I had never seen so many cactus in one place before moving here and you’ve really got to see prickly pear cactus when they bloom! They are absolutely stunning. It is also the only cactus I have accidentally stuck my hand into; what can I say, there was a really pretty rock under it!
